1950s Satin sleeveless evening dress

 

Embellished with gold, sequins and beading

really make this dress stand out

 

 

  

with sailor style collar

 

this detail goes from top to the hem

WOW

looks amazing when opened fully

fuller at the back worn with a petticoat

to get the desired effect

This is a typical parlour

in  a 1950s home at Beamish

 

                                                            both rooms take me back to
                                                                     my child hood

 

This hoover was the same we had at home

Cut and Construction 2015

 

 

Our brief was to make a piece from the regency era,

I decided to remake this hem,

 

                                               
                                           I used a cotton fabric,  40 puffs were made and

                                         
                                             attached, four rows of stitching around the hem,
                                                 tied with a bow at the back under the bust.

                                     

                                       I done princess side seams and hand sewn waistband

                                         this inside shot shows the slits I made for the puffs
                                                            ( oops its upside down, sorry)
                                                                  but you can get the gist,
